Japanese Village

Hello there ! I'm really happy to share with you this project I've started during the confinement!
Even though it didn't started as a Ghost of Tsushima fan art, I can't say I was not influenced by the game in the end...
The idea was to create a game ready environment in a large scale, as if it was The Witcher 3 in a Japanese fantasy.
The scene is made using the open world process (very few unique meshes, tiling materials etc...)
Everything is made by me except for the skybox which is from the Unreal marketplace and the decals that I directly took from the Megascan library. I used other Megascans atlases and materials but every time I tried to heavily modify them :)
My process was very iterative as I didn't really knew what I wanted to achieve at the beginning, so I started by producing a large number of props and materials I could use to build the village. It was a very interesting approach as in the end I was able to focus only on the level art, using the library I created. It was also my first time really doing vegetation, and I have to say that I struggled a lot with it. I'm quite happy with the result, even though it's far from perfect !
I encourage you to watch the playthrough at the end of the publication for a full overview of the scene.
I learned a lot doing this project and I hope you'll like it :)
