Hi there, I'm happy to present my latest project made in UE 4.26, a village hidden in the chinese rainforest, and the path leading to it. My goal was to improve in making foliage and apply the things I learned in my day to day job in organic world building to a personal project. Things got a bit out of hand at some point in term of size, but I'm really happy with how the things turn! Please consider watching the playthrough video at the top, the scene was build to be explore like that :)
I'd like to thank all my friends who helped me and gave feedbacks along the way and especially Florent Fontalbard who made the music (here is the link to his soundcloud, go take a look what he does is amazing https://soundcloud.com/landanthebutler) and to my brother Enzo Ambrosini who made the sound design.
For this project I used UE 4.26. All the vegetation was done using reworked atlases from Megascan or random google photos, processed with Photoshop and 3dsmax and then sent to Speedtree for the final pass. Then the trees and plants were all done in Speedtree using those atlases.
Rocks were sculpted in Zbrush and are using a shader combining 3 rock materials done with Substance Designer, all combined with dirt, wetness etc through RGB masks. Buildings are using the same kind of shader.
Terrain is using Megascan materials reworked using Quixel Mixer.
I used the "new" UE sky atmosphere and atmospheric clouds for the sky.
For the village assets, I simply reused most of the ones I did for my japanese village scene.
Water and waterfall VFX are from UE4 marketplace.
I will probably do a detailed breakdown at some point :)
Thanks a lot for watching and I hope you'll like it!
(please turn on the sound for a better experience)
